Juan Sanchez ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Chowchilla Hit-and-Run Accident at Orange Avenue and 5th Street

Chowchilla, California (May 8, 2021) – The bicyclist who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver last month in Chowchilla has been identified as Juan Sanchez, 45.
The deadly accident happened at around 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, near the intersection of Orange Avenue and 5th Street.
According to the authorities, Sanchez was riding a bicycle on the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Juan Ventura, 26.
First responders arrived at the scene and found Sanchez lying in the roadway unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ventura fled the scene but was later arrested. He told the authorities that he “intentionally wanted to kill someone” during the crash.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
