Irwindale, California (February 27, 2020) – A man was killed in a collision involving a big rig early Wednesday morning in Irwindale, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at about 2:10 a.m. February 26, on 605 Freeway near Lower Azusa Road.
According to the CHP, Juan Carlos Recendez, 23, of Baldwin Park was driving a 2016 Mazda 6 northbound on the freeway when he slammed into the rear of a big rig.
The impact caused the Mazda to overturn.

Recendez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
The CHP is conducting an investigation into the incident.
