Joshua Washburn Killed in Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 in Butte County
Joshua Washburn ID’d as Gridley Man Killed in Butte County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99

Butte County, California (February 5, 2019) – The Butte County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Butte County on Saturday night.
46-year-old Gridley resident Joshua Washburn died in the accident that happened at about 11:45 p.m. February 2 on Highway 99, just north of the Butte/Sutter County line.
CHP said Washburn was driving southbound on Highway 99 when his car broke down and he pulled to the side. A friend also pulled to the side to assist the stranded driver.
The authorities said the two then tried to cross the highway and an oncoming 2008 Toyota slammed into Washburn.
Washburn was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, Noah Denhalter, 20, of Yuba City, was unhurt in the crash and remained at the scene.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
