Joshua Fernandes Hospitalized after 2-Vehicle Crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road in Jamestown
Joshua Fernandes among 2 Injured in Jamestown Crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Shotgun Creek Road
Jamestown, California (July 16, 2020) – Joshua Fernandes, 33, of Angels Camp, was among two people who sustained injuries following a traffic accident that occurred early Thursday morning in Jamestown, Tuolumne County.
The crash involving two vehicles happened at about 5:45 a.m. on O’Byrnes Ferry Road, just north of Shotgun Creek Road, and near the Sierra Conservation Center.
Authorities said a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Jonathan Branaugh, 35, of Tracy, was heading northbound on O’Byrnes Ferry Road at about 50 to 55 miles per hour when it crossed over the double-yellow lines and sped up to 65 mph to try to pass a big rig.
A Ford F-550 pickup traveling westbound toward Highway 108 was unable to avoid the collision and two vehicles collided head-on. The force of the impact caused the Chevrolet to roll over.
Fernandes, who was the driver of the Ford, was transported by ground ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora in an unknown condition. Branaugh sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
