Joseph Mantua Injured in Fatal Car Crash on Highway 1 in Sonoma

Sonoma, California (April 13, 2021) – Joseph Mantua, 47, of Bodega Bay, has been identified as one of the two parties who were injured in a Saturday night traffic accident that killed a male driver in Sonoma, authorities said.

The deadly accident occurred at about 11:30 p.m., April 10, on Highway 1 north of Valley Ford Road.

According to the police, a Nissan Frontier was headed southbound when it collided with a Dodge truck, driven by Mantua that was traveling northbound on the highway. Following the collision, Nissan came to rest, blocking the roadway.

Winter Nason, 25 of Santa Rosa, was driving northbound on Highway 1 and failed to observe the crash and collided with the left side of the Dodge and the rear of the Nissan.

As a result of the crash impact, the Nissan caught fire.

Joseph Mantua Injured in Highway 1 Crash

Sadly, the male driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mantua sustained major but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. Nason sustained minor injuries in the accident. Both were found to be under the influence at the time of the crashes and were arrested.

The crash remains under investigation.
