79-Year-Old Joseph Galizio Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Crash on Kurtz Street
San Diego, California (July 3, 2019) – 79-year-old Joseph Galizio has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car in San Diego late Saturday night.
The fatal pedestrian crash, which happened at around 10:47 p.m. June 29, occurred on Kurtz Street near Pacific Highway.
The fatal accident happened when an oncoming 2006 Toyota Prius struck the elderly man on the highway for unknown reasons. The 59-year-old woman driver told police that the pedestrian darted out into the roadway in front of the Toyota and she was unable to avoid hitting him.
Joseph Galizio Hit and Killed by Car on Kurtz Street
Galizio suffered severe injuries and was attended to by the paramedics who arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. He was then taken to UC San Diego Medical Center by ground ambulance where he was later pronounced dead the same day.
The police affirmed that the driver of the involved car was not hurt in the collision.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the leading cause of the accident.
