Jose Morales ID’d as Man Killed in Keyes Collision at Keyes Road and Mountain View Road
Keyes, California (June 20, 2021) – Authorities have identified the man who died Saturday night following a traffic collision at a Keyes intersection as Jose M. Reyes Morales of Merced.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the intersection of East Keyes Road and Mountain View Road.
CHP said a 2009 Toyota Camry, driven by Morales, had stopped for a red light on southbound Mountain View when it pulled into the path of a 1998 Toyota 4Runner driven by Favio Valencia Jr. of Patterson, who was heading westbound on Keyes Road.
The 4Runner ultimately hit the Camry on the driver’s side.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and extricated the Camry’s driver, Morales, who was trapped in the wreckage. He was then transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Valencia was also transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
