Jose Garcia ID’d as Man Killed in Moreno Valley Pedestrian Accident at Perris Boulevard and Fir Avenue

Moreno Valley, California (February 14, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner has identified the man who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver late Saturday night in Moreno Valley as Jose Manuel Garcia, 37, of Moreno Valley.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at about 11:57 p.m. Saturday, February 13, at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Fir Avenue.
Authorities said Garcia was walking across Perris Boulevard when he was hit by a white, two-door Pontiac Grand Am that was speeding northbound on Perris Boulevard.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found Garcia suffering from life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.
The Pontiac driver briefly pulled over to the side of the road along with a purple Scion XB. Both vehicles then fled the scene, heading eastbound on Fir Avenue.
It was not immediately clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
