Pacoima, California (April 1, 2019) – The forklift operator who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning while doing deliveries in Pacoima has been identified as Jose Cervantes, 60, of Dinuba in Tulare County, according to the authorities.

The incident happened in the 12200 block of Foothill Boulevard just after 1:00 a.m. Sunday, March 31.

Authorities said Cervantes was operating a forklift to unload crates of live chickens from his truck.

Reportedly, Cervantes was moving the chickens from the truck to a local processing facility. He had parked his truck on Foothill Boulevard when as of yet to be determined reason he was hit by a blue Hyundai.

Cervantes died at the scene.

It’s unclear why the Hyundai slammed into the operator. The driver reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
