John Darke ID’d as Man Killed in Richmond Motorcycle Crash on 80 Freeway at Carlson Boulevard

Richmond, California (October 8, 2019) – The motorcycle rider who was killed in a fatal collision that happened Sunday morning in Richmond has been identified as John Darke, 56, of Pinole, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
Authorities said the crash occurred at around 11:39 a.m. October 6, on westbound 80 Freeway at Carlson Boulevard.
As per the CHP, Darke was riding a motorcycle westbound on the freeway when he side-swiped an SUV traveling on his right side. Darke bounced back and struck the side mirror of a Toyota Prius that was on his left.
Darke also collided with a Nissan Rogue and a Mercedes Benz sedan on the right.

Darke was airlifted to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
All westbound lanes of the freeway at Carlson Boulevard were closed following the accident.
CHP is investigating the incident.
