Joanne Davis Suffers Major Injuries in Placerville Crash on Missouri Flat Road near Life Way

Placerville, California (June 5, 2021) – A 55-year-old El Dorado woman was among three people who were injured after being involved in a deadly head-on collision in Placerville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday, May 27, on Missouri Flat Road near Life Way.
CHP said a 2006 BMW 325i, driven by Michael Smith, 22, of Placerville, was traveling southbound on Missouri Flat Road when the BMW drifted across the double-yellow lines into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a northbound 2007 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by Joanne Davis, 55, of El Dorado.
Davis sustained major injuries that included a broken ankle and was transported to a local hospital. Her two passengers had minor injuries.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
All parties involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, authorities said. It was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
Missouri Flat Road was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.
The accident remains under investigation.
