Jim Sanchez ID’d as Man Killed in Hayward Pedestrian Accident on D Street
Hayward, California (February 10, 2021) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle last week Friday in Hayward as Jim Sanchez, 29, of Hayward.
The deadly accident happened at around 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 5 on D Street, authorities reported.
According to the authorities, Sachez was attempting to get into his car on the northbound side of D Street when a westbound pickup truck struck him.
The truck continued traveling and became involved in another collision at the intersection of D Street and 2nd Street. There were no details regarding that crash.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident on D Street in Hayward
Sanchez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities later determined that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
