Jere Whitney Killed in Long Beach Crash at Fourth Street and Ximeno Avenue
Long Beach, California (July 9, 2021) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Long Beach on Tuesday night, according to Long Beach police.
The accident occurred at Fourth Street and Ximeno Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. July 8.
Police said Jere Whitney, 78, was in the crosswalk walking across the street when she was struck by a vehicle making a left turn.
The vehicle fled westbound on Fourth Street after the accident.

Whitney was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Police said the vehicle suspected to be involved in the crash was a red Subaru Outback or Crosstrek.
The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the incident.
