19-Year-Old Jennifer Ramirez Seriously Hurt in Mendocino County Head-On Crash on US Highway 101
Mendocino County, California (April 5, 2019) – 19-year-old Jennifer Ramirez from Fortuna was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a head-on collision in Mendocino County Wednesday morning.
The accident, which happened at around 11:04 a.m. April 3, occurred at the Green Bridge on Highway 101.
The accident happened when an SUV crossed the yellow lines and slammed into a southbound Ford Mustang head-on.
Due to the impact, the SUV overturned and landed on its side with the back-end above the Russian River.
Jennifer Ramirez Seriously Hurt in Mendocino County Crash
Ramirez, who was a passenger in the Ford, sustained major injuries following the wreck. Another passenger in SUV was burned and hurt from the fire that exploded.
Ramirez was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. The other passenger was also hospitalized at Santa Rosa for treatment of major injuries. The Ford driver was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center while the SUV driver, who suffered major injuries, was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.
The roadway was completely blocked due to the collision and the traffic had to be diverted onto Old River Road.
The SUV driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The incident remains under investigation.
