30-Year-Old Amber Young Seriously Hurt in Mendocino County Head-On Crash on US Highway 101

Mendocino County, California (April 5, 2019) – 30-year-old Amber Young from McKinleyville was seriously hurt in a head-on collision in Mendocino County Wednesday morning, according to a local news source.
The accident, which happened at around 11:04 a.m. April 3, occurred at the Green Bridge on Highway 101.
The accident happened when an SUV heading north crossed the yellow lines and slammed into a southbound Ford Mustang head-on. Due to the impact, the SUV overturned and landed on its side with the back-end above the Russian River.
Amber Young Hurt in Mendocino County Car Collision
Young, who was a passenger in the SUV, was burned and hurt from the fire that exploded but was rescued together with the driver by the firefighters. Another passenger in the Ford Mustang, identified as a 19-year-old woman from Fortuna, sustained major injuries. Young and the 19-year old female party were hospitalized at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital while the Ford driver was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center. The SUV driver suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
The roadway was completely blocked due to the collision and the traffic had to be diverted onto Old River Road. The involved vehicles sustained severe damage following the wreck.
The SUV driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The police are still investigating the crash.
