Long Beach, California (June 3, 2021) – Authorities have identified the homeless woman who died after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning in a parking stall in Long Beach as Jamie Gatewood, 39.

The accident occurred at around 10:42 a.m. Monday, May 31, in a business parking lot in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard near 25th Street.

According to the authorities, Gatewood was lying under a pile of blankets in the parking lot when a 2010 Scion XB hit her.

Gatewood was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Scion, a 27-year-old Los Angeles man, stopped at the scene and was cooperative, police said.
