Jami Pfau among 2 Injured in Smith River Bicycle Accident on Highway 101 near Dr. Fine Bridge

Smith River, California (July 23, 2020) – A traffic accident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle left two people injured Thursday morning in Smith River, authorities said.
The crash occurred at around 11:02 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 near Dr. Fine Bridge.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Tanner Smith was riding his bicycle southbound on the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 101 while Jami Pfau was driving a 2019 Ford Fusion southbound on U.S. Highway 101 approaching Smith.
For an unknown reason, the Ford Fusion veered onto the shoulder of the highway, where it collided with Smith.
As a result of the collision, the Ford Fusion went up an embankment and rolled over onto the roadway.
Pfau sustained minor injuries while Smith suffered moderate injuries. Both victims were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment.
The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
