Sacramento, California (June 19, 2020) – 60-year-old James Raymond Fristoe, of Bieber, has been identified as one of the two people who died in a head-on collision that occurred near Sacramento International Airport early Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 12:45 a.m. on Interstate 5 Freeway near Power Line Road.

A 49-year-old Sonoma man was driving a 2003 Subaru Outback when he collided head-on with a 1992 Honda Accord driven by Fristoe.

Fristoe and the driver of the Subaru died at the scene of the accident.

A 56-year-old female passenger in the Honda was rushed to U.C. Davis Medical Center with major injuries.

Southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours as the authorities examined the scene.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
