Yountville, California (May 8, 2021) – James Coffin, 47, has been identified as one of the four parties who were injured in a Friday night traffic accident that killed one person in Yountville, authorities said.

The deadly accident transpired at about 9:00 p.m., on May 7, on Highway 29 south of Washington Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2003 Nissan Altima, driven by Pedro Alexis Santarosa, 24, of St. Helena, was headed southbound on the highway when it crossed a double-yellow line into oncoming northbound traffic.

Unfortunately, the Nissan collided with a 2011 Honda Pilot, operated by Joanne M. Ruggirello, 43.

Sadly, Santarosa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four parties in the Honda, including the driver, were injured in the accident. They were taken to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Ruggirello, a 16-year-old passenger, and a 4-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries in the accident. Coffin sustaining moderate injuries

Traffic on the Highway was stopped for two hours due to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
