Fountain Valley, California (September 28, 2019) – J. Drilling, 39, of Fountain Valley, was seriously hurt in a suspected DUI collision that also injured two CHP officers early Friday morning in Fountain Valley, according to a local news source.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. September 27, on southbound 405 Freeway just south of Warner Avenue.

Authorities said a Toyota Prius and a 2008 Peterbilt were heading south in a construction zone on the freeway when they were rear-ended by a speeding 2013 Chrysler. The impact pushed the Prius off the roadway and it crashed into a CHP patrol vehicle stopped on the side with its lights on.

J. Drilling Seriously Hurt in Fountain Valley Crash

Drilling was driving the Prius and was transported to a hospital with major injuries.

Two CHP officers were transported to UC Irvine Medical Center following the crash. One of them reportedly sustained major injuries and the other had moderate injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down due to the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
