Petaluma, California (June 23, 2020) – Two people were injured Sunday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Petaluma, according to a local news source.  

The two-vehicle crash happened on Petaluma Boulevard North on June 21.  

Police said Hipolito Salinas Zarate, 55, of Petaluma, was driving his vehicle southbound on Petaluma Boulevard North when he allegedly failed to stop in time for a vehicle that had slowed in front of him to turn into a driveway.  

Zarate did not see the vehicle slow and rear-ended it.

Two occupants of the vehicle that was rear-ended were treated for their injuries and released at the scene.   

Zarate was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.  

Zarate was being held on $100,000 bail.  

The accident remains under investigation.
