Gridley, California (January 20, 2019) – At least one person was possibly killed in a fatal traffic collision Sunday evening in the area of Gridley, Butte County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at around 6:28 p.m. Sunday, on Highway 70 and Cox Lane.

As per the report, two vehicles crashed for unknown reasons. One of the cars reportedly burst into flames following the collision.

Air and land ambulances were dispatched to the scene to attend to the injured parties who suffered severe injuries as a result of the collision. One party was pulled from the burning car, and they complained of pain to the leg.

The number of victims and their current condition was not immediately released.

Officials closed southbound and northbound traffic lanes of Highway 70 at Cox Lane following the collision.

An investigation is ongoing.
