Fairfield, California (October 22, 2020) – The motorcyclist who died in a traffic accident Wednesday evening in Fairfield has been identified as Greg Coppes, 65, of Dixon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly motorcycle crash happened on Interstate Highway 80 near Manuel Campos Parkway at about 6:37 p.m. October 21.

Coppes and a group of other motorcyclists were riding their bikes westbound when his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle veered off the roadway and crashed into a drainage trench.

Coppes suffered major injuries and was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville, where he died while undergoing treatment.

As per the report, Coppes was nicknamed “Coach” for his time coaching Dixon High School football.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the collision.

No additional information about the accident was provided.
