1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Gilroy Car Collision on Highway 152 near Bloomfield Avenue
Gilroy, California (September 19, 2019) – One person died, and two others were left with serious injuries after a head-on collision that happened Wednesday morning in Gilroy.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just before 8:00 a.m. on Highway 152 between Lovers Lane and Bloomfield Avenue.
Officers said a Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on the highway when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with an eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck sustained major injuries. The driver of the Ford was also hospitalized with major injuries.
About 10 miles of Highway 152 remained closed in both directions between Bloomfield Avenue and Highway 156 following the accident.
CHP is investigating the accident.
