George Schultz Seriously Injured in South Lake Tahoe Truck Crash on SR-88 near Red Lake Road

South Lake Tahoe, California (February 9, 2020) – One of the two victims airlifted after a crash involving a big rig in South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as George Schultz, 81, according to a local news source.

The wreck happened on SR-88 near Red Lake Road at about 2:15 p.m. February 4.

According to CHP, Juan C. Hernandez, 40, of Vacaville was driving a tractor-trailer eastbound on SR 88 when he swerved partially into the westbound side at a corner and collided with an oncoming Honda.

George Schultz Seriously Injured in South Lake Tahoe Truck Crash

Schultz was the driver of the Honda. He and his passenger, Patricia Schultz, 80, were both airlifted to Renown Hospital in Reno with serious injuries.

Hernandez was uninjured in the crash.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
