El Cajon, California (June 4, 2021) – The  San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in El Cajon as George Joseph Flores, 60, of El Cajon.

The deadly accident occurred in the 1900 block of East Main Street at around 10:21 p.m. Thursday, June 3.

According to police, Flores was trying to walk across East Main Street when he was struck by a gray Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on E. Main Street from Pepper Drive.

Following the crash, Flores was thrown about 50 feet.

Flores was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased despite life-saving measures performed by the medical personnel.

Police said the vehicle involved in the accident appeared to have been driven without headlights when the collision occurred.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the incident.

The El Cajon Police Department is investigating the incident.
