Motorcyclist Gary Ortiz Struck and Killed by Vehicle near 9th Street and Lombardo Avenue
Modesto, California (November 6, 2020) – 51-year-old Gary Ortiz, of Ceres, Ortiz has been identified as the rider who died following a traffic collision that happened Saturday evening in Modesto, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The fatal motorcycle accident took place near 9th Street and Lombardo Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. October 31.
The accident involved a 2007 Chevrolet cargo van driven by 56-year-old Daniel Barron south on the highway and a 1995 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Ortiz north on Ninth Street.
The initial report showed that Ortiz rear-ended the Chevrolet’s right side after its driver made a left turn into his path.

Ortiz died at Doctors Medical Center while undergoing treatment.
Barron, a Modesto resident, stopped following the wreck and cooperated with the law.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
