Fresno, California (April 22, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a train Wednesday morning in downtown Fresno, police said.

The tragic crash occurred just before 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the area of Mono Street and G Street.

According to the police, the pedestrian was hit by a freight train that was traveling southbound.

The pedestrian, only identified as a female victim, was killed in the accident. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

All train crossing signals, warning lights, and crossing arms were working properly when the accident happened.
