Fresno, California (March 22, 2019) – A 1-year-old toddler was mauled to death by two loose Rottweiler dogs outside a residence in Fresno Friday morning, according to a local news source.

The accident, which was reported at around 11:00 a.m., happened on Kaviland Avenue.

Police said the attack occurred when the boy got out of his home and wandered into the front yard. The two Rottweiler dogs were roaming loose and viciously attacked the unattended child.

According to the police, the attack was witnessed by other children at the same home who alerted a grandmother. She went outside and tried to fend off the dogs, but during the process, she was also bitten by the animals. The grandfather eventually got the dogs to stop when he whipped them with a garden hose.

Paramedics responded to the scene and took the injured toddler to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
