Fresno, California (March 29, 2020) – Two people were transported to the hospital following a suspected DUI multi-vehicle collision that happened near Chestnut in Fresno Saturday night.

Authorities said the fiery collision took place along Highway 180 near Highway 168 at about 8:30 p.m. on March 28.

As per the report, an alleged DUI motorist slammed into the back of another vehicle on the highway for unknown reasons.

The initial report indicated that the accident caused a chain-reaction collision involving seven automobiles.

The DUI driver’s car caught fire upon the impact.

2 Hurt After Multiple Vehicles Crashes on Highway 180 near Highway 168

Officials affirmed that the DUI operator sustained major injuries in the accident. The patient was then rushed to CRMC for treatment.

Another victim was transported to Selma hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The identities and the current conditions of both patients have not yet been released to this time.

Meanwhile, the CHP said the DUI driver will be booked into the Fresno County Jail once he’s discharged from the hospital.

The cause of the accident remains under an active investigation.
