Homeless Woman Killed in Pacoima Rollover Crash on Highway 118 Identified

Pacoima, California (November 27, 2019) – The woman who was killed last week Wednesday morning when rain-slicked roads caused a driver to lose control of his van, sending the vehicle tumbling down an embankment and onto a homeless encampment in Pacoima has been identified.

Flor de Maria Lopez Carcamo, 49, died in the accident that happened on 118 Freeway near 11160 N San Fernando Road Wednesday, November 20.

The authorities said the driver was getting on the 118 Freeway when he lost control of his van on rain-slicked roads. He then over-corrected the wheel, and the van spun out before rolling over the side of the embankment.

The van tumbled over the side and landed into a homeless encampment near a school bus yard. Carcamo died upon the impact.

The driver of the van was not injured in the crash.

According to the authorities, both rain and bald tires were factors in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
