Flaviano Soltero Arrested after Smith River Hit-And-Run Crash on Highway 101

Smith River, California (February 22, 2020) – A man has been arrested in connection with a January hit-and-run collision that led to the death of a pedestrian in Smith River, according to the authorities.

The deadly crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. January 2, on Highway 101 just north of Timbers Boulevard.

Authorities said Patrick McConkey was walking on the west side of Highway 101 when a southbound a grey Honda Odyssey struck him. The driver fled the scene after the incident.

McConkey died as a result of the crash.

Flaviano Soltero Arrested after Fatal Smith River Pedestrian Crash 

After an investigation, the CHP arrested a suspect on February 13. The suspect, identified as Flaviano Tovar Soltero, 29, of Smith River, was arrested and booked into the Del Norte County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run causing death, and obstructing a public officer. He was being held on a $100,000 bail.
