Female Passenger Dies after Humboldt County Car Accident at Myrtle Avenue and Russell Lane
Humboldt, California (December 18, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning traffic accident that killed one person and left another injured in Humboldt County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Russell Lane at about 2:36 a.m., on December 17.
Ismael Lopez Jr. had been driving a 2008 Nissan Altima on the roadway when he crashed into two parked vehicles.
A female passenger in the vehicle was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
Lopez Jr. was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injuries.
