Fallbrook, California (November 11, 2020) – A pilot was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a single-engine plane crashed while attempting to make an emergency landing in Fallbrook, according to authorities.

The accident happened just before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, at Fallbrook Community Airpark on South Mission Road.

Authorities said the single-engine Bellanca Citabria was having engine trouble when it landed at Fallbrook Airpark.

The plane reportedly ran out of runway after making a successful landing and ended up about 50 feet past the end of the paved surface.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
