Eureka, California (August 21, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit Thursday morning at an intersection in Eureka, authorities said.

At about 6:07 a.m., the Eureka Police Department Officers received a report about the accident at the intersection of 5th and N Streets.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian, only identified as a 44-year-old Eureka man, was in the roadway when he was struck by the HCSO patrol unit that was heading eastbound on 5th Street.

The pedestrian suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph ER for treatment. He is now in stable condition, authorities said.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
