Eureka, California (June 19, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed and one other person was hospitalized Thursday night after a traffic accident at an intersection in Eureka, according to a police report.  

The deadly collision, involving a van and a motorcycle, was reported at around 7:58 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at the intersection of Union and W. Hawthorn Streets.  

A man was riding his motorcycle northbound on Union Street at a high rate of speed when he collided with the van that was traveling eastbound on W. Hawthorn Street, per the police report.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and performed CPR on the motorcyclist. The rider was then taken to St Joseph’s ER where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of family.  

The van driver was also taken to St Joseph’s ER in an unknown condition.
