Eureka, CA: End-Of-Pursuit Crash on Elk River Court
Woman Hospitalized after Eureka Car Accident on Elk River Court; Man Arrested

Eureka, California (January 31, 2019) – One woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after a pursuit ended in a traffic collision in Eureka, authorities said.
At around 8:30 a.m. a man who lives on Elk River Court called the authorities when he saw a burglary in progress at a neighbor’s home.
The man told officials that he saw suspects unloading objects out of the home and into a blue SUV hauling a large white cargo trailer. Two suspects then got into the car and drove off.
The authorities caught up with the SUV in Cutten, but it didn’t stop. The officials chased the suspects into Eureka but called off the pursuit when it entered oncoming lanes, becoming dangerous. Deputies continued to follow the suspects and requested help from the Eureka Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. The suspect SUV crashed at the intersection of Harrison and Harris but continued traveling.
As per the report, spike strips were deployed throughout the city, which the suspects drove over at F and Carson Streets. The authorities kept following the blue SUV as it continued northbound on F Street, still pulling a white trailer. When it reached 14th Street, the suspect SUV and trailer collided with several other vehicles.
The force of the impact caused both the suspect SUV and trailer to overturn.
An unidentified woman, who was struck by the suspect SUV, sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital. No one else was injured.
The authorities extricated a man and woman from the SUV. The man was then arrested and booked into county jail. The suspect’s name has not been disclosed.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
