Esmeralda Bejar ID’d as Woman Killed in San Jose Crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Alum Rock Avenue

San Jose, California (March 4, 2021) –The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who was killed Tuesday morning in a fiery crash in San Jose as Esmeralda Carrillo Bejar, 45, of San Jose.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, on U.S. Highway 101 near Alum Rock Avenue.
The CHP said a 2018 Toyota RAV4, driven by Bejar, was heading northbound on Highway 101 when, for unknown reasons, it stopped on the highway and was rear-ended by a 2014 Dodge 5500 truck.
The force of the impact pushed the RAV4 into another vehicle, which then crashed into a fourth vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the RAV4 caught fire.

According to the CHP, Bejar was trapped inside the burning vehicle and died at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
