Man Critically Injured in Escondido Motorcycle Crash on W Washington Avenue
Escondido, California (October 17, 2019) – A motorcycle rider was hospitalized with major injuries following a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon in Escondido, according to police.
The crash happened at about 4:38 p.m. October 16, in the 200 block of W Washington Avenue.
An Escondido woman was reportedly driving a white 2019 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on W Washington Avenue when she moved into the left lane and was hit by an eastbound motorcyclist. The rider then crashed into the rear of a white Ford F-250 pickup which had stopped in the left turn lane waiting to turn into a parking lot.
The impact ejected the rider and threw him approximately 15 feet away from the scene.
Rider Injured in Escondido Motorcycle Crash
The motorcyclist was transported to Palomar Medical Center in critical condition. He was only identified as an adult Escondido man.
The driver of the Ford fled the scene after the crash.
Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
