Eric Valencia Jr. ID’d as 1 of 2 Injured in Highway 29 Crash near Azalea Springs Road in Calistoga
Calistoga, California (July 9, 2021) – One of the two people who were injured Thursday morning in a head-on crash in Calistoga has been identified as Eric Valencia Jr., 33, of Santa Rosa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The major injury collision happened at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8 on Highway 29, just north of Azalea Springs Road.
According to CHP, a 33-year-old Windsor man was driving a 2011 Ford Mustang coupe northbound on Highway 29 when, for an unknown reason, he allowed the vehicle to drift across the center median into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a southbound 2015 GMC Sierra driven by Valencia.
The Mustang was facing the wrong way after the collision.
Major Injury Accident on Highway 29 in Calistoga
Valencia was transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also hospitalized with major injuries.
Both vehicles were towed away with major front-end damage.
CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
