El Cajon, California (December 16, 2020) – A 32-year-old motorcyclist from El Cajon was killed in a Monday morning alleged DUI crash in the unincorporated Bostonia area, north of El Cajon, officials said.

The deadly motorcycle accident happened at about 7:05 a.m., on December 14, at the intersection of Plumeria Drive and Pepper Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2011 Kia Sportage, driven by Pamela Gilmore, 59, of Santee, was headed northbound on Plumeria Drive, preparing to head westbound on Pepper Drive when it collided with a 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle.

The motorcycle operated by the 32-year-old El Cajon man was traveling end on Pepper Drive approaching Plumeria Drive at the time, the officials said.

As per the CHP report, the Kia entered the intersection was struck on its left side by the rider. 

As a result of the collision, the male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway.

The rider was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gilmore sustained minor injuries and declined hospitalization. An 83-year-old passenger in the Kia was not injured in the accident.

The authorities said Gilmore was under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol. She was booked at Los Colinas Women’s Detention Facility for felony DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter. Her bail was set at $100,000.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
