Eduardo Ramirez Killed in Car Crash on Highway 12 in Lodi

Lodi, California (December 10, 2019) – The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner have identified Eduardo Ramirez, 25, of Thornton, as one of the drivers who were killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Lodi.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, December 8 on Highway 12, just west of Guard Road.

The California Highway Patrol said a red Nissan Altima was heading eastbound on Highway 12 when for unknown reasons, it crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a westbound silver Nissan Sentra.

Ramirez and the driver of the Altima, who authorities identified as Ronald Baoanan Esperanza, 50, of Stockton, were both declared dead at the scene.

Alcohol or drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

Highway 12 was shut down as crews examined and cleared the scene. Just before 8:00 a.m., the roadway was reopened.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
