Edgar Castillo ID’d as Man Killed in Ventura Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 Off-Ramp to California Street

Ventura, California (January 2, 2019) – The 24-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Tuesday morning in Ventura has been identified as Edgar Castillo, of Ventura, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The tragic accident was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 1 on the northbound Highway 101 off-ramp to California Street.
The CHP said Castillo was hit by a sedan that was heading northbound on the off-ramp. The driver stopped at the scene and complied with authorities.
Castillo was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.

The law requires drivers to slow down and give the right of way to pedestrians in both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
