Dixie Lewis Killed Head-On Crash on Highway 89 in Truckee
Dixie Lewis ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Truckee Collision on Highway 89 at Cabin Creek Road
Truckee, California (May 27, 2021) – Authorities have identified one of the two recent Berkeley High graduates who died following a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Truckee as Dixie Lewis, 19.
The deadly crash was reported at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, on Highway 89 at Cabin Creek Road.
According to the authorities, a 2014 Ford Fusion, carrying the two Berkeley High graduates, was heading northbound on Highway 89 when, for unknown reasons, the Ford Fusion veered across the double yellow line into the southbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Freightliner truck.
Deadly Head-On Collision in Truckee
Lewis, who was riding as a passenger in the Ford Fusion, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the daughter of famed Berkeley author and financial journalist Michael Lewis.
The driver of the Ford Fusion also died at the scene.
The truck driver, a 45-year-old Nevada man, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
