Daawood Nana, Baam Saad Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-280 in Los Altos Hills
Daawood Nana and Baam Saad Among 6 Injured in Los Altos Hills Car Accident on Interstate Highway 280 near Magdalena Road
Los Altos Hills, California (August 19, 2020) – Daawood Ozair Nana, 21, and Baam Ahmed Saad, 18, both of Mill Valley, were among six people who were injured Sunday evening in a deadly crash in Los Altos Hills.
The fatal accident was reported shortly before 5:00 p.m.Sunday, August 16, on Interstate 280, just south of Magdalena Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2006 Toyota Sienna, driven by Mohammed Ismail Yacoobali, 19, of Mill Valley, was traveling in the northbound lane of the interstate when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway and struck several trees. The vehicle then rolled over.
First responders arrived at the scene and located the Toyota with seven occupants.
Ali Modan, 17, of San Rafael, who was riding as a passenger in the Toyota, was declared dead at the scene.
Yacoobali, Nana, Saad, and three other passengers were transported to area hospitals, two with minor injuries, two with moderate injuries and two with major injuries.
It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
