Coyote, California (June 23, 2021) – A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in the unincorporated community of Coyote, the California Highway Patrol said.

The deadly bicycle accident happened at around 7:40 a.m. Saturday, June 19 on Hale Avenue, just north of Blossom Court.

According to the CHP, a 2003 Honda, driven by a 26-year-old Morgan Hill man, was heading southbound on Hale Avenue when, for an undetermined reason, the Honda veered onto the shoulder and struck a 51-year-old San Jose woman who was riding a Schwinn bicycle.

The impact caused the woman to be ejected from the bike.

Woman Killed in Coyote Bicycle Collision

The driver of the Honda stopped at the scene and called 911, according to the CHP. A bystander also stopped to provide aid to the woman.

Sadly, the woman died in the crash. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the collision.
