Driver Airlifted after Coachella Crash at Cottonwood Springs and Box Canyon Roads

Coachella, California (March 15, 2021) – A driver was injured Sunday evening in a single-vehicle rollover crash on a Chiriaco Summit road in Coachella, according to a local news source.
The accident, which was reported at around 9:38 p.m. Sunday, March 14, happened at the Cottonwood Springs and Box Canyon roads exit from the westbound 10 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Accord was traveling on the Chiriaco Summit roadway when, for unknown reasons, it overturned approximately 50 feet off the road.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the driver who was trapped in the wreckage. The patient was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The name and condition of the victim were not immediately disclosed.
Police closed the freeway due to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
