Burney, California (May 1, 2019) – 33-year-old Chris Graves was among eleven people injured when a truck carrying U.S. Forest Service Hot Crew members was involved in a crash with a sedan on Tuesday evening in Burney, according a local news source.

The wreck happened around 5:12 p.m. April 30, on Highway 299 near Fir Street.

According to a CHP report, a woman was driving a 1996 Lexus when she veered into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Forest Service vehicle, a 2008 International. The truck overturned onto the embankment.

Chris Graves Among Several Hurt in Burney Traffic Collision

The driver of the Lexus and one passenger in the service truck were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries. Another passenger in the service truck who suffered major injuries was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding.

Graves and seven other service crew were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
