CHP ID’d Ismael Arrenaviz as Bicyclist Killed in Bakersfield Traffic Accident at Union and Columbus
Ismael Arrenaviz Struck and Killed by Vehicle at Union Avenue and Columbus Street in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California (March 12, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol have released the name of the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday morning in Bakersfield.
The Bakersfield Police Department said the crash happened on March 10 at the intersection of Union Avenue and Columbus Street.
The accident began when a male party driving his car westbound on Columbus Street fell asleep.
The motorist reportedly woke up and made an unexpected turning movement and struck Ismael Arrenaviz, who was stopped at the intersection at approximately 11:41 a.m.
Ismael Arrenaviz Died After Bicycle and Vehicle Crashed at Union Avenue and Columbus Street
Sadly, Arrenaviz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the involved vehicle stopped and cooperated with the law.
The accident remains under an active investigation.
