Red Bluff, California (January 25, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol has released the names of the three victims injured in a head-on crash that happened in the area of Red Bluff at around 5:50 p.m. on Thursday.
The two-vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Walnut Street and Fortier Road on January 23, according to a local news source.
The accident involved a vehicle operated by 49-year-old Jimmy Ray Cawthon Jr. eastbound on Walnut Street and another unspecified vehicle driven by Charles Nance, 37, of Red Bluff westbound on the highway.
Ray Cawthon Jr. reportedly allowed his vehicle to veer off into the path of the other vehicle and collided head-on.
3 Hospitalized After Red Bluff Car Crash at Walnut Street and Fortier Road
Charles Nance and his passenger, who was identified as 36-year-old Jennifer L. Lenwell of Red Bluff, were hospitalized at St. Elizabeth Community for treatment of minor injuries.
Cawthon also sustained minor injuries and was rushed to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital for medication.
Officials affirmed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the wreck.
Meanwhile, Walnut Street at Fortier Road was closed down for about 30 minutes.
The CHP is still investigating the cause of the accident. Authorities requested anyone with information about the collision to contact Red Bluff CHP at 527-2034.
